Public Post: More Than a Delivery Service

Public Post: More Than a Delivery Service

Here's what Alan Witt, from Ashford in Kent, had to say:

"The Post Office is a vital organ in society along with the pub, the church and the general store. We live on the edge of a village. We have never been let down by our posties. They fathom out wrongly addressed post, put larger articles through the cat flap if we are out. They would certainly let the sub-postmaster know if they suspected anything was wrong in the household. They are friends. They are a lifeline for the old and disabled. They, and the Post Office, are part of the social fabric of the UK.

I am not generally a union supporter but this time I stand behind the CGU. If the Post Office shut so too would most of the other shops. The resulting unemployment would cost the taxpayer far more than any miniscule subsidy to retain a poatal service which is the envy of the world."

It's clear: The Post Office means far more to individuals and local communities than the government gives it credit for. And, for the elderly, the disabled and those in rural communities, the Post Office is a very real "lifeline".

Let's not abandon the people who rely on the public postal service. Let's take action and get our message across loud and clear. Please help us by joining the campaign and by sharing what the Post Office means to you.
