Who Needs a Public Post? Small Businesses.
We live in a small village high in the Yorkshire Dales. During the recent snowy weather, our postman Steve managed to get through to us almost every day, bringing vital contact with the outside world. We run a small business, so it was important that we kept in contact with our customers.
Staff at our post office in Leyburn were always cheerful, efficient and helpful as we brought in our Christmas rush of parcels for customers of our publishing business, many of them going to overseas destinations. We have a contract with the Royal Mail for overseas mail, and this is vital for our business.
Rosalie has genuine reason to be concerned about privatisation. Will her local Post Office remain in place? Will they continue to offer key services? Will increased prices for regular services ruin her business model?
Rosalie, you're not alone. We are doing everything we can to make sure the proposed privitisation does not go ahead.
If your business is threatened by privatisation, please share it and tell us why. Your story can inspire others to take up the fight.
